
Dragons Announce 2005 Schedule

DAYTON, OH --- Following four games at Coveleski Stadium against the South Bend Silver Hawks to open up the 2005 season, the Dayton Dragons open the home schedule at Fifth Third Field on Tuesday, April 12th. The defending Midwest League champion West Michigan Whitecaps (Detroit Tigers) will help the Dragons open the sixth season of baseball at Fifth Third Field with a 7:00 p.m. first pitch. The opening home stand for 2005 runs from April 12th through April 18th and features three games with the defending champion Whitecaps and four games against Eastern Division rival the Fort Wayne Wizards (San Diego Padres).
The Dragons 2005 schedule consists of 140 games, with Fifth Third Field in Downtown Dayton hosting 70. The Dragons will host 10 games in April, 14 in May, 14 in June, 16 in July, 15 in August and one in September. Start times for games at Fifth Third Field in 2005 are: 7:00 p.m. for all games Monday through Saturday and 2:00 p.m. for all Sunday games.
All 140 Dragons regular season games, plus any 2005 Midwest League playoff action will be broadcasted live on 1410 ESPN Radio WING AM and will also be broadcasted over the internet on the Dragons website at www.daytondragons.com via Broadcast Monsters.com.
The Dragons play in the Midwest League, which is comprised of 14 teams divided into two divisions: the Eastern and Western. Five teams will have new affiliates for the 2005 season; Battle Creek, Beloit, Lansing, Peoria and the Swing of the Quad Cities. The Dayton Dragons, affiliated with the Cincinnati Reds, will compete in the Eastern Division along with Battle Creek (Tampa Bay Devil Rays), the Fort Wayne Wizards (San Diego Padres), Lansing Lugnuts (Toronto Blue Jays), South Bend Silver Hawks (Arizona Diamondbacks) and the West Michigan Whitecaps (Detroit Tigers).
The Western Division consists of the Beloit Snappers (Minnesota Twins), Burlington Bees (Kansas City Royals), Cedar Rapids Kernels (Anaheim Angels), Clinton Lumber Kings (Texas Rangers), Kane County Cougars (Oakland Athletics), Peoria Chiefs (Chicago Cubs), The Swing of Quad City (St. Louis Cardinals) and the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (Seattle Mariners).
