Dominant Second Half Lifts Titans over Blizzard

Cedar Rapids, IA - Although the visiting Green Bay Blizzard (1-5) got out to an early 17-7 lead, the host Cedar Rapids Titans (4-2) used 38 second-half points to propel them to a 70-40 win.

Rookie signal caller Dylan Favre continued to improve his indoor passing game, completing 13 of 20 passes (65% completion percentage) 182 yards and five touchdowns. Favre threw one interception, which was returned by Blizzard All-IFL defensive back Jamie Bender for the first score of the game.

Favre's Green Bay counterpart, Matt Behrendt, finished the ball game completing 17 of 38 passes for 152 yards and pair of touchdowns.

Favre also led the Titans on the field, rushing for 80 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries. Running back Stephen Campbell saw his most significant playing time of the season, recording nine yards and three carries. Campbell recovered a Favre fumble in the endzone to score his first touchdown of the season.

Behrendt added 30 rushing yards on six carries while being the only member of the Blizzard to score a rushing touchdown. Keshaudas Spence, who spent much of training camp in Cedar Rapids, added 49 yards on the ground on seven attempts.

The Cedar Rapids receiving corps continued to bolster, with five touchdowns being scored between the three starters. Jared Elmore paced the group, notching five receptions for 83 yards. All-IFL receiver Ryan Balentine added 56 yards and four catches while Charles Watkins added 32 yards and one touchdown on three catches.

Indoor Football League newcomer Dorian Buford led the Green Bay receiving corps, recording seven catches for 88 yards and one touchdown. Former Titan Bryan Pray was the other Blizzard receiver to add a touchdown, catching a four-yard pass from Behrendt late in the fourth quarter. Pray also caught a two point conversion.

Defensive back/jack linebacker Fred Griggs paced the Titans defense, making 12 stops and one tackle for loss. Griggs also returned a failed onside kick attempt by Green Bay eight seconds in the game to put the final nail in the coffin. Defensive back Tim Bennet and linebacker added seven tackles each while Devin Ghafoor was the lone Titan to tally an interception, which was his second of the season.

Demarkus Perkins, who also spent time in Titans training camp earlier this season, led Green bay with eight tackles and two-and-a-half tackles for loss. Defensive back Reggie Jennings and defensive lineman Ryan Smith made five stops each.

Cedar Rapids is on the road next weekend as they travel to Sioux Falls to take on the Storm for the third time this season. The season series is split between the two, with the most recent game being won by the Titans (60-57) last weekend in Cedar Rapids. Kickoff is slated for 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, April 9 from the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls.
