LANCASTER, Calif. - David Paulino turned in his best performance of the season for the JetHawks, striking out nine batters over seven innings in a 7-2 win over the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Thursday night at The Hangar.

Paulino (1-1) struck out a season-high nine batters and allowed just one run on two hits while walking none over his seven innings, recording his first win for the JetHawks (69-61).

Alex Bregman went 2-for-5 in the game to extend his hitting streak to 13 games, and James Ramsay went 2-for-4 with two runs batted in. The win, along with an Inland Empire loss, dropped Lancaster's magic number to 1.

With Nate Samson on second with a leadoff double in the top of the fourth inning, Jacob Scavuzzo gave the Quakes (71-59) a 1-0 lead with a RBI-single. The JetHawks, however, responded immediately in the bottom half. After three walks by Rancho Cucamonga starter Scott Barlow (7-3) loaded the bases, Mott Hyde tied the game with a sacrifice fly, and Jamie Ritchie put Lancaster in the lead with a RBI-single to center field.

Over just four innings, Barlow yielded two runs on two hits, walking five and striking out three.

In the fifth, J.D. Davis added a RBI-single and scored on a triple by Ronnie Mitchell against Quakes reliever A.J. Vanegas. A RBI-double by Bregman off Jose Molina in the seventh extended the JetHawks' lead to four.

Reliever Kevin Comer gave up one run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Kyle Garlick, but after a two-run double by Ramsay in the bottom half, the right-hander pitched a scoreless ninth to give Lancaster the series victory.

The homestand continues on Friday as the JetHawks open a three-game series against the Lake Elsinore Storm with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Christian Powell (1-2, 13.50) will start for Lancaster while Matt Shepherd (4-9, 5.45) will pitch for Lake Elsinore.
