Tupelo FireAnts News Release
The Tupelo FireAnts lost to the Mississippi Fire Dogs, 45-29, Saturday night at the BancorpSouth Center. Both teams played a pretty even game, but key miscues lifted the Dogs over the 'Ants.
RB Chris Rainey and QB Damon Smith (2) both rushed for Tupelo TD's on the night. On the defensive end of the game, Carnell Houston converted on a fumble recovery resulting in an 'Ants touchdown. Biloxi shut down all offensive production for the 'Ants in the third quarter, and gained the advantage in the game. With momentum shifting their way, the Dogs were able to put the "bite" on the 'Ants overall game, resulting in the 45-29 victory.
With playoff hopes for Tupelo still looming, the FireAnts will make the playoffs if:
· Tupelo goes 3-0 and Alexandria goes 1-2 AND Tupelo beats Alexandria
· Tupelo goes 2-1 and Alexandria goes 0-3 AND Tupelo beats Alexandria
Tupelo's record drops to 4-7 on the season, 1-2 in the Atlantic East division. Biloxi improves to 3-8, 2-1 in the Atlantic East division.
The FireAnts take on the Tennessee ThunderCats this Saturday at the BancorpSouth Center starting at 7:00pm. The first 500 people through the door will receive a free FireAnts bumper sticker, courtesy of WLOV Fox 27. Feel the burn of FireAnts football...this Saturday.
