Fayetteville SwampDogs News Release

FLORENCE, S.C. - The Fayetteville SwampDogs lost 10-1 to the Florence RedWolves Friday night at Cormell Field at Sparrow Stadium. Their magic number to clinch a playoff birth over the Wilmington Sharks remains at 2.

Starting pitcher for the SwampDogs, Randy Hair (Winston-Salem State) struggled from the start, and exited the game in the third inning with an apparent blister issue. He allowed seven runs (six earned) on six hits in two-plus innings, walking five and striking out three. Clayton Freimuth (Trinity) would close out the third inning.

From there, it would be a carousel of position players on the mound, as Tyler Tew (Methodist), Jason Blum (Southeast Missouri State), Kam Stewart (Frostburg State), Drew Butler (Campbell), David LaFleur (LSU Eunice) and Brandon Metoyer (Menlo) would all get work on the bump. Pitchers Teddy Turner (Trinity) and Hasten Freeman (Arkansas - Fort Smith) would pinch hit in the ninth inning.

The SwampDogs will have a quick turnaround as they take on the Columbia Blowfish Saturday at J.P. Riddle Stadium at 7:05 pm as the Dogs host their last fireworks extravaganza of the season. For tickets and more information, call the SwampDogs at 426-5900.
