Dodge City Law Refocuses After Historic Win

March 6, 2014 - Champions Professional Indoor Football League (CPIFL) - Dodge City Law News Release

Following the Dodge City Law's first victory in franchise history on Sunday against the Omaha Beef, the team allowed themselves to enjoy their win and celebrate the occasion.

By Monday morning, when the team's bus arrived in Dodge City, the coaches and players had put the win behind them and begun to prepare for Saturday's game against the Oklahoma Defenders in Dodge City.

"The win on Sunday was historic in that it was our first regular-season win," Head Coach Sean Ponder said. "It was a great win for us and something that we want to build on. Our next game is against Oklahoma and our goal is to win that game as well. Our focus needs to be on winning Saturday's game rather than basking in the glory of last week's win."

Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator noted the importance of continuing to work hard regardless of past success.

"Football is a 'what have you done for me lately' sport," Ross said. "To be successful this season we have to stay hungry and stay focused on what we are trying to accomplish. We can't get complacent and we have to put last week's game behind us."

Despite proving that the Law have the ability to compete and win in the CPIFL, the players must take every game seriously and give their full effort every week.

"Oklahoma is going to come in here on Saturday with the goal of giving us our first loss," Ponder said. "Our goal is to give them their first loss, as well.

"Our team is really talented, but there is a lot of talent in this league," Ponder added. "Oklahoma is going to give us their best shot and we have to be ready to show them what we've got and play at the highest level that we can."
