Diesel Nips Sioux Falls by a TD
May 24, 2002 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Tri-City Diesel News Release
The Sioux Falls Storm won the statistical battle at the home of the Tri-City Diesel Friday night, with the exception of two categories, the final score, 51-44, and interceptions returned for touchdown, Diesel 1---Storm 0.
In a see-saw battle with many telling moments, a Charles Verdone 49-yard zig-zagging, set-up-your-blocks return for a touchdown after he pirated a Storm pass with just 49 seconds remaining in the game made the difference. Once again the Diesel knocked off a division power, upping their record to four wins against six losses in the season. Sioux Falls goes home with a 6-4 record. The Diesel win avenges a loss to the Storm in late April.
After a bye week the Diesel entertains Lincoln for the last home game of the season on June 8.
