Kearney, Nebraska-The Tri-City Diesel is proud to announce the addition of Wesley Cates, a 6'0 - 210 RB from California University (PA). In 2001 Cates was a finalist for the Harlon Hill award, which is given to the most outstanding player in Division II. During each of his three years as a starter he lead the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference in rushing and scoring, was a 1st Team PSAC All Conference selection, NCAA All Region selection, and as a senior Wes was named PSAC-West Offensive player of the year. Wesley also garnered numerous All-American honors while finishing as the PSAC's All Time leader in rushing (5647yards), rushing TD's (63), and scoring (386). At Ohio State's pro day Wes ran a 4.4 forty-yard dash.
The Diesel is also proud to announce the signing of Damien Cannaday, a 6'0 - 200 WR from the University of Minnesota. At the University of Minnesota, Damien helped lead the Gophers to appearances in the Sun Bowl and the Micron PC Bowl. Damien earned Academic All Big Ten honors and was a four-time scholar athlete for the Gophers. Damien comes to the Diesel from the Sioux Falls Storm
The players and staff are preparing for their first game, which is against Enid, OK in Oklahoma. The Diesel will host their first home game against Wyoming Calvary on March 26th at 7:30 pm.
