The Middletown, R.I., native stands second on the career passing chart at Gardner-Webb with 8,025 yards and 60 touchdowns and had his best overall season as a senior. The 2002 Big South Conference Offensive Player of the Year and an honorable mention I-AA All-American, Martin completed 193-of-326 passes for 2,166 yards and 17 touchdowns, while throwing only four interceptions. He led the Big South in completions, attempts, yards, touchdown passes and passing efficiency as a senior, and was even better in conference games – completing an eye-popping 68.6 percent of his passes and forging a quarterback rating of 152.00. He finished 14th nationally in individual total offense and completed at least one touchdown pass in 26 of his last 29 games at Gardner-Webb. Martin, who was named Division I-AA National Player of the Week twice during his career at GWU, was a three-time honorable mention All-America selection at the Division I-AA level, and was a three-year starter under center.
