Diesel Add Five Veterans to Roster

Kearney, Nebraska-The Tri-City Diesel is proud to announce the addition of five veterans to the 2004 roster. Included in the five signings is former Tri-City Diesel Defensive Back, Mark Hays. Hays, a 5’10” 210 pound strong safety was with the Tri-City Diesel last year and was the teams leading tackler and also ranked in the Top 10 in the entire NIFL. Before coming to the Diesel he was a standout for the University of Nevada-Las Vegas Running Rebels.

Pinklon Thomas, 6’4” 220 pound Wide Receiver from Knoxville College will also join the team, this being his fifth year of professional indoor football. Thomas has spent the majority of his indoor career in the city of Green Bay. While in Green Bay he helped the Green Bay Bombers win the IFL Championship. In 2002 he was with the Sioux City Bandits of the NIFL and last year spent the season with the Arena 2, Green Bay Blizzard.

James Drayton, 6’1” 190 pound Defensive Back from Minot State University will also join the Diesel for the remainder of the 2004 season. Drayton is coming to the Diesel after spending last year with the Bismarck Roughriders.

While with the Roughriders Drayton managed to play in 8 games and tally a total of 36 ½ tackles with 5 pass break-ups. In college James was a 2-time All-American corner for Minot State.

Heath Keim, 6’4” 290 pound Offensive Lineman from Wayne State College will help anchor the Diesel’s offensive line for the rest of 2004. Keim also spent the last 2 years with the Bismarck Roughriders and helped them to the playoffs in both of those years.

To round out the signings is Robert Reeves, a 6’6” 320 pound Offensive Lineman from Dartmouth University. Reeves started this season with the Myrtle Beach Stingrays of the NIFL before having the team fold last week. While at Dartmouth he was a 4-year starter and only gave up 4 sacks and managed to receive All-Ivy League honors. Reeves will help the rest of the offensive line pave the way for the NIFL Leading Rusher, Wesley Cates for the remainder of the 2004 season.

The Tri-City Diesel is currently at the top of the Pacific South Division and will host in-state rival and Pacific North Division Leader, Omaha Beef on Saturday, April 10th at the Tri-City Arena with kickoff set for 7:30pm.
