Diamonds Select Five in Pacific Association League Tryout

Pittsburg Diamonds News Release


The Pittsburg Diamonds drafted five players in Saturday's Pacific Association league tryout and draft. For the first time, six teams (including the newly-minted Napa Silverados and Martinez Clippers) drafted from the nearly 100 players that traveled to Albert Park in San Rafael to showcase their skills.

The Diamonds selected the following players:

1. Nicholas Barnese, RHP - Simi Valley, CA

Selected in the third round of the 2007 Major League Baseball draft, Barnese played six seasons in the Tampa Bay Rays organization. He last played for the St. Paul Saints in 2014, compiling a 6-9 record with a 3.85 ERA.

2. Marc-Richard Culmer, OF - Nassau, Bahamas

Culmer played for West Virginia Tech (2011-2014) and last played in the Puerto Rico Instructional League (2017.)

3. Jerome Hill II, OF - Pittsburg, CA

A Pittsburg native, hill attended Los Medonos College from 2014-2015 and made the Bay Valley All-Conference 1st Team in 2015. He went on to play at Dixie State, hitting .389 in 26 at bats.

4) Danny Moskovits, RHP - Newport Beach, CA

Before spending two seasons in the Can Am League and one in the American Association, Moskovits played at Harvard from 2011 to 2014.

5. Alex Leach, RHP - Modesto, CA

Leach played at Northeastern Junior College for two seasons before heading to Cal State East Bay (2016-2017).
