
Diamonds Drop 2nd Game to Racers but Avoid Area Thunderstorms

Diamonds lose to Racers 9-6 and the series is now 1-2. In a high scoring game riddled by 4 errors the Diamonds lost an early lead and were never able to recover.
Diamonds were off to a quick start on a triple from Villarreal, and a double from Weseman which scored Villarreal making it 1-0. With Weseman and DiSalvatore on base and no one out, Amanda Locke hits a monster Home Run making it 4-0 at the bottom of the first inning.
Akron answered in the second inning with a 2 run Home Run by Schlopy.
With starting pitcher Angel Bunner struggling, Racers tied it in the 3rd inning on a single from Hesson. Coach Navas brought in Amanda Locke who got them out of the inning.
Racers took the lead in the top of the 4th inning helped by Diamond errors making it 5-4.
Diamonds would tie it up at 5-5 in the 4th inning on a DiSalvatore single.
Plourde would then give up two bases-loaded walks in the 5th inning making the score 5-7, when Amanda Locke was brought back in and finished for the Diamonds.
Racers added two more runs in the top of the 6th inning making 5-9.
With runners on 2nd & 3rd and no outs in the 6th inning, Weseman hit a ground ball to the right side which scored Kamekona to make it 6-9.
Although the Diamonds could not stage a come back, the game was completed with only a few minutes of light sprinkles and completely missed by the thunderstorms which surrounded the stadium
Hillary Bach pitched the complete game and now stands 4-3 for the season while Plourde falls to 0-2.
