
Diamond Jaxx Release 2005 Schedule

The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx, the Double-A Southern League affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, have released their 2005 schedule. The Diamond Jaxx will begin their eighth season in the Southern League on Thursday, April 7th at Pringles Park as the Diamond Jaxx take on the Chattanooga Lookouts.
The Diamond Jaxx will play one doubleheader at Pringles Park. The twin-bill will have the Diamond Jaxx taking on the Mobile BayBears on Friday, May 6th.
With the Greenville Braves moving to Pearl, Mississippi to become the Mississippi Braves, the Southern League has realigned their two divisions. In previous years, the Southern League had an East and West Division. Starting in 2005, the Southern League will go to a North and South division. The Diamond Jaxx will play in the North Division. Joining the Diamond Jaxx in the North Division will be Huntsville, Chattanooga, Tennessee and Carolina. The South Division will be comprised of Birmingham, Jacksonville, Mississippi, Mobile and Montgomery.
The Mississippi Braves will make three trips to Pringles Park in 2005. The first chance to see the Braves in their inaugural season in the Southern League will be April 11-13.
The Diamond Jaxx will finish the 2005 Southern League regular season at Pringles Park on September 5th when they take on the Mobile BayBears.
Game times for all Diamond Jaxx home games will be announced at a later date.

*Diamond Jaxx Lower Ticket Prices for 2005*
In an announcement made by General Manager Jeff Parker, the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx have lowered their ticket prices for the 2005 season. This marks the third straight year that the Diamond Jaxx have reduced their ticket prices.
Field Box seats are now $8.50, Box seats have been lowered to $7.50, Club Box seats have been cut to $5.50 and General Admission seats are $4 per game. Kids 12 and under, senior citizens 65 and older and all military personnel who provide an ID will pay $2 for General Admission seats or save $1 on every other seat at Pringles Park. The cost of individual game tickets includes all applicable taxes.
Field Box season tickets, which were $392.87 for the 2004 season, have been reduced to $375. That works out to $5.36 a game. Box Seat season tickets have been lowered from $336.75 to $325, an average of $4.64 per game. Club Box season tickets have been cut from $308.68 to $300. That's seventy games at Pringles Park for just $4.29 per game. General Admission season tickets will cost just $200, an average of $2.86 per game. The cost of season tickets includes all applicable taxes.

*Pinto Named Cubs Minor League Pitcher of the Year*
Former West Tenn Diamond Jaxx LHP Renyel Pinto was named Chicago Cubs' Minor League Pitcher of the Year for the 2004 season.
Pinto spent most of the 2004 season playing for the Diamond Jaxx, the Cubs Double-A affiliate in the Southern League. The twenty-two year old Pinto made 25 starts with the Diamond Jaxx, compiling an 11-8 record with a Southern League leading 2.92 ERA. He also led the league in strikeouts with 179. The 179 strikeouts set a franchise record, breaking the old mark of 168 set by Brian McNichol in 1998.
Pinto was called up to Triple-A Iowa on August 26th. He made two regular season starts for the Iowa Cubs, going 1-1 with a 7.71 ERA. Pinto also made two post-season starts for Iowa. Pinto's record in the post-season was 0-1 with a 3.18 ERA.
Pinto signed as a non-drafted free agent with the Cubs in 1999. He resides in Miranda, Venezuela.

*Diamond Jaxx Help Raise Nearly $43,000 For Local Groups*
The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx, the Southern League Double-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, helped twenty non-profit organizations raise $42,936.71 at Pringles Park this summer.
These twenty non-profit organizations helped work the concession stands throughout the course of the 2004 Diamond Jaxx season at Pringles Park to raise money for their various functions.
The Diamond Jaxx would like to thank: Alpha Gamma RHO from U.T. Martin, Madison County chapter of the American Cancer Society, Asbury Communities of Jackson, TN, Beta Sigma PHI, Bicentennial Exchange Club of Jackson, Brown's Ruritan Club, D.E.L.T.A. Inc., Dyer County 4-H Club, Freed Hardeman University's Alumni Association, Jackson Exchange Club, Jackson Old Hickory Rotary Club, Liberty High School, Liberty High School Cheerleaders, Liberty High School Volleyball Boosters, Madison High Cheerleaders, Madison High Senior Class Boosters, Madison South Softball Team, Northside High Softball Team, PHI CHI THETA from U.T. Martin and the Riverside Cheerleaders from Ripley, TN.
"This is one of the many ways the Diamond Jaxx organization impacts the local community," said Diamond Jaxx General Manager Jeff Parker. "We are proud to be a part of the tremendous impact these fine organizations make on West Tennessee."
