NOLAN ROCKED THE 2005 WNBA ALL-STAR GAME

Deanna Nolan shined the brightest out of Detroit's four players in Saturday's WNBA All-Star Game. Although the East was dealt a 122-99 loss, Nolan scored a game-high 20 points to lead the team. Ruth Riley scored 10 points, Swin Cash scored two points and grabbed five rebounds, and Cheryl Ford added four points.

THE DETROIT SHOCK HOST THEIR INAUGURAL KIDS DAY CELEBRATION

On Sunday, July 17th the Detroit Shock and Subway will be celebrating Zap's birthday. All kids 14 and under receive 50% off the cost of admission. Highlights for the day will include Zap's Birthday celebration, Shockfest, an interactive outdoor festival presented by Ford, a Dad & Daughter contest and clinic, a Ruth Riley jersey giveaway courtesy of Subway, a Be Smart Be Fit Be Yourself message by All-Star Swin Cash, and an iPod giveaway. In addition, on July 17 randomly selected kids between the ages of eight and 14 will job shadow members of the Shock staff, "working" in various capacities around the arena.

SHOCK PLAYER HONORED WITH 2004 ROOKIE OF THE YEAR AWARD

Chandi Jones was honored before Tuesday, July 5th home game against the Houston Comets with a 2004 Rookie of the Year trophy presented by the Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association. That night Jones contributed 26 minutes, and seven points, Kara Braxton was the high scorer with 20 points, and Deanna Nolan was not far behind with 19. Despite a good effort, the Shock fell to Houston 75-66.

SHOCK TRIUMPH ON THE ROAD

Cheryl Ford was Thursday night's high scorer against the Washington Mystics, contributing 15 points, and 18 rebounds to the 76-52 victory. Elaine Powell scored 12 and racked up 11 rebounds, Ruth Riley scored 11 for the Shock, and newcomer Plenette Peirson scored 10. Ford is ranked number 1 in the WNBA in rebounds per game, and number 2 in the WNBA for total rebounds.

SHOCK TO HOST 4TH ANNUAL TIP A SHOCK

The Detroit Shock will host their 4th annual Tip-A-Shock at Kalloway's restaurant on Wednesday, July 27 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Kalloway's is partnering with the Shock to help raise money for the March of Dimes. All tips fro the wait staff and proceeds from the raffle; silent auction, pictures and autographs will benefit the March of dimes. Be sure to come out, and tip big!
