Detroit Recalls Jake Paterson from Grand Rapids

DETROIT - The Detroit Red Wings today recalled goaltender Jake Paterson from the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins.

A native of Mississauga, Ontario, Paterson has appeared in 142 games with the OHL's Saginaw Spirit since 2010-11, compiling a 70-54-12 record with a 3.44 goals against average, a 0.904 save percentage and four shutouts. He also appeared in 21 career OHL postseason games, showing a 7-14 record, a 3.89 goals against average and a 0.890 save percentage. The 19-year-old netminder recently capped off his third full season with the Spirit with a 24-18-2 record, a 3.41 goals against average and a 0.906 save percentage. Originally drafted by Detroit in the third round (80th overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Paterson joined the Griffins at the conclusion of Saginaw's season but has yet to make his first professional appearance.

The 6-foot-1, 183-lb., goaltender also represented Canada in back-to-back World Junior Championships in 2013 and 2014. He did not see game action during last year's tournament in Ufa, Russia, but he started two games for his country this season in Malmo, Sweden, going 1-1 with a 3.36 goals against average and a 0.868 save percentage.
