
Destroyers sign former NFL fullback to practice squad

COLUMBUS, OH â The Arena Football League's Columbus Destroyers have signed fullback/linebacker Deon Dyer to their practice squad, the club announced today. Dyer joins the Destroyers and the AFL after spending the past five seasons in the NFL.
Dyer (5-11, 260, North Carolina) was a 4th round draft selection (117th overall) of the Miami Dolphins in the 2000 NFL Draft. He would go on to appear in 45 games with the Dolphins from 2000-2003, including all 16 games his rookie year. Dyer also spent time with the Houston Texas (2003) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2004) before entering the AFL this season.
Dyer was a four-year letterman at the University of North Carolina from 1996-1999. He finished his collegiate career with 186 carries for 639 yards rushing and nine touchdowns. He also had 20 receptions for 183 yards and two receiving touchdowns.
The Destroyers return to action this Saturday, April 30 when the club hosts the Austin Wranglers at Nationwide Arena. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. (ET).
