
Destroyers re-sign Levy, Barre and Jones

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Destroyers have re-signed offensive specialist Darcey Levy, wide receiver/defensive back B.J. Barre and offensive/defensive lineman Ken Jones, team President David Paitson announced today. As is club policy, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
Levy (6-2, 200, Pittsburgh) signed with the Destroyers in the middle of the 2006 campaign and made an instant impact on the team. He caught 26 passes for 431 yards and eight touchdowns in six games. He finished fourth in the Arena Football League in yards per catch with an average of 16.6.
Barre (6-2, 210, Ohio State) had a breakout rookie season in the AFL. In 14 games, Barre caught 34 passes for 339 yards and three scores. He also rushed for three touchdowns. Defensively, Barre added 50 tackles (45UT-10AT), four interceptions, four pass breakups and two fumble recoveries while setting a Destroyers franchise record for forced fumbles in a season with four. The former Buckeye also returned 46 kickoffs for 927 yards.
Jones (6-4, 285, South Carolina State) will play his fourth season for the Destroyers after signing with the club when the team moved to Columbus in 2004. In 2006, Jones led the team in tackles for a loss (eight) and sacks (five). He added 19.5 tackles (14UT-11AT), three forced fumbles and three pass breakups. Jones had a receiving touchdown as well.
The Destroyers 2007 season will kickoff in late January and run through June. The Destroyers are now accepting season ticket deposits from new customers for the 2007 season.
