Columbus Destroyers News Release

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Destroyers hosted an open kicker tryout Thursday at Nationwide Arena offering kickers more than simply a chance to display their ability for the Destroyers coaching staff. The club guaranteed an invitation to training camp for the last kicker standing after a full day of competition. Following nearly six hours of evaluation and head-to-head competition, former Dallas Cowboys kicker Tim Seder was the lone survivor and as a result will attend training camp when all players report during the first week of January.

"The workout was run very well and I think every kicker here was given ample opportunity to show what they are capable of doing," said Seder. "Sometimes you question the type of facility you will be kicking in or how serious a team is about giving guys a chance when you come to an open tryout. But the kicking conditions were great and as the day progressed, it was obvious they were serious about this. I feel blessed to have finished on top and look forward to competing for a spot on this team come January."

Seder spent two seasons with the Cowboys from 2000-2001 where in 23 games he connected on 36-of-50 field goals and converted 39-of-39 extra point attempts. He also has two rushing touchdowns on two carries with Dallas to his credit. Seder spent a portion of the 2002 season with the Jacksonville Jaguars after being released by Dallas during training camp. His three-year NFL totals include conversions on 44-of-62 field goal attempts and conversions on all 50 extra point attempts.

After graduating from Ashland University in 1998 Seder spent two years as a teacher and coach in Mansfield, Ohio before receiving a call from the Cowboys during the summer of 2000. He currently coaches linebackers and is the special team's coordinator at his alma-mater, Ashland University.

The Destroyers begin training camp during the first week of January. The club will bring 37 players in to camp before trimming their roster down to a league-mandated maximum of 24 players when the regular season begins on Friday, January 28 as the Destroyers host the expansion Nashville Kats at Nationwide Arena for a 7PM kick.

Final auditions for the BOMBSHELLS, the Destroyers' official dance team will take place this Saturday, November 13 at PromoWest Pavilion beginning at 8PM. All finalists will audition in front of a live audience. The 2005 BOMBSHELLS will be announced immediately following Final auditions. For more information, visit www.ColumbusDestroyers.com.
