Desperados sign ex-NFL DB Robinson

DALLAS, Texas - The Dallas Desperados added its 12th free agent of the season, signing DB Damien Robinson on Monday.

Robinson (6-2, 215), is an eight-year ex-NFL veteran who saw time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1997-2000), the New York Jets (2001-02) and the Seattle Seahawks (2003-04). He was originally drafted in the fourth round (119th overall) of the 1997 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles.

For his NFL career, Robinson totaled 401 tackles (255 solo), 13 interceptions, 33 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries while playing in 83 games with 65 starts.

He played collegiately at the University of Iowa from 1992-96 where he made 35 starts in 44 games, tallying 276 tackles, 14 interceptions, 28 passes defensed and two forced fumbles.

Robinson is a former Hillcrest High School standout in Dallas where he garnered honors as a Blue Chip All-American and was also named one of the top 100 players in the state of Texas as a senior.

The team also released K Todd Sievers today, who finished the 2007 season with the seventh-most points in the AFL with 139.

The Dallas Desperados open the 2008 season in a nationally televised game on ABC at the Georgia Force on March 1 at 12 p.m.
