Desperados Re-Sign Lineman Tom Briggs
December 18, 2002 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Dallas Desperados News Release
The Dallas Desperados today announced the re-signing of OL/DL Tom Briggs. Briggs was released by the team Dec. 3, but the two mutually agreed to join forces again.
When the Desperados originally signed Tom Briggs prior to their inaugural season (Nov. 30, 2001), they knew they were getting one of the top lineman in the Arena Football League. While creating havoc on the defensive side of the ball, Briggs has shown his versatility with 10 career receptions for 53 yards and five touchdowns. He has also proven to be durable, having started every game of his six-year AFL career (79 games). His experience paid dividends in 2002 as he taught the game of arena football to a group of young linemen.
Briggs led the way for these young linemen, finishing the season leading all Dallas linemen with 19 tackles and three stops for losses. He also posted three pass deflections, two sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery while catching two passes for 13 yards on offense. His play helped spark the Desperados to the quarterfinal round of the playoffs.
The Desperados kick off the 2003 season on Feb. 2 by hosting the New York Dragons. Season tickets for the 2003 season are now available in six pricing packages, beginning as low as $40 â or $5 a game. With NBC Sports televising up to 71 games this spring, the AFL season has expanded to 16 games â eight home games and eight road games. Desperados season ticket packages can be ordered by calling 972-78504900 or by visiting the Dallas Desperados official website at www.dallasdesperados.com.
