Desperados Put Larrimore on IR, Activate Tucker

March 5, 2003 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Dallas Desperados News Release

The Dallas Desperados today announced that they have placed defensive specialist Kareem Larrimore on Reserve/Injured and activated WR/DB Shawndel Tucker from the practice squad. The club also signed defensive specialist Carl Greenwood to the practice squad.

Larrimore sprained the medial collateral ligament in his right knee late in the third quarter of last Sunday's 65-64 overtime victory over Arizona. An MRI on Monday showed that he has a grade II sprain of his MCL, an injury that normally takes four-to-six weeks to heal. He will now have to spend a minimum of two weeks on Reserve/Injured while undergoing rehabilitation before being eligible to return to the active roster.

To fill Larrimore's roster spot, the Desperados moved WR/DB Tucker to the active roster from their practice squad. Tucker came to Dallas in the trade that sent QB Andy Kelly – among others – to the Detroit Fury last offseason. Tucker is a two-year Arena Football League veteran who caught 40 passes for 589 yards and 10 touchdowns while totaling 15 tackles in his two seasons in Detroit. He has also averaged 20.8 yards on 24 career kickoff returns. He will move into the Desperados two-way rotation at wide receiver/defensive back.

Finally, Greenwood – who was waived by the team last Friday – was signed to the club's practice squad today. He originally signed with the Desperados on Jan. 17 and played in Dallas' first four games this spring. After four games, he ranked fifth on the team with 8.5 tackles while also posting a tackle for a loss and a missed field goal return for four yards.
