Philadelphia Rebels News Release
ATTLEBORO, MA- The Philadelphia Rebels (15-18-1-1, 32 pts) and the Northeast Generals (20-11-4-1, 45) wrapped their two-game set Friday night at New England Sports Village.
After a loss Thursday night, the Rebels turned the page Friday night and came with a 3-2 comeback-overtime win.
Just over three minutes into the overtime period, David Deputy took a pass from Max Hamstad on a breakaway and buried a backhand to win the game for Philadelphia.
Northeast went ahead with a late goal in the first period and led 1-0 into the first intermission.
Max Hamstad tied the game at one early in the second, and then a whirlwind of penalties took over in the period. Nick Recupero scored a power-play goal in the penalty-filled period that gave the Generals a one-goal lead heading into the final frame.
The Rebels would go on to score the next two goals to win the game and stay hot on the road. Tyler Stern recorded the tying goal a little under nine minutes into the final period.
With Friday's come-from-behind victory, Philadelphia has won seven of its last nine road games.
The Rebels' penalty kill saved them in this game as they were able to kill two late power plays for Northeast.
Deputy's overtime-winner completed the Rebels' comeback and sent them home with a split in this series.
Jakub Krbecek stopped 31 of the 33 shots he faced in the win, holding Northeast scoreless in the third period.
The Rebels return home next Friday for a contest against the New Jersey Titans as they look to continue their hot streak.
