Florida Seals News Release

ORLANDO – Orlando Seals Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Stan Drulia announced today that captain Brad Federenko, who helped lead the Seals to the 2003 President's Cup title, has re-signed with the team for another year. As per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

"Brad played a huge role in getting us to the championship this past season," said Drulia, who guided his team to a perfect 6-0 record in the post-season. "He's a quiet guy and he leads by example. He comes to play every day and works hard every shift, and the guys respect and respond to that. Getting him back is the first step in winning another title for Orlando.

Federenko, 31, of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, was seventh on the team in points (45) with 19 goals and 26 assists in 52 regular-season games. In the playoffs, he scored three goals, including the game-winner in Game 2 of the first round against Macon, and had two assists as the Seals swept Macon and Knoxville for the title.

The 6-foot, 203-pound center joined the Seals in the third week of the season and quickly became a key producer. The former captain of the Jacksonville Lizard Kings of the East Coast Hockey League handled faceoff duties for Orlando while playing on a line with RW Joe Seroski and LW Terry Ryan.

Before joining the Seals, Federenko had played with Seals defenseman/assistant coach Chris LiPuma in Baton Rouge, La., in 2001-02, recording 13 goals, 21 assists and 32 penalty minutes for the Kingfish of the ECHL. After graduating from the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 1997, he spent three seasons with the Lizard Kings, posting back-to-back 66 points seasons in 1998-99 and 1999-00.
