AUSTIN, Texas (www.austinaztex.com) - The Federation Hatienne de Football (FHF) has called Aztex defender Mechack Jerome to play for Haiti in the Caribbean Nations Cup in November.
Jerome was spotted by the Aztex when the Haitian National Team played a friendly against them at House Park on April 28. He recently got his first game experience for Austin in its 3-1 loss at Puerto Rico on September 11.
The Liancourt, Haiti, native will suit up for his national team when they travel to Trinidad and Tobago for the second round of qualifiers from November 2-6, then again for the finals from November 24-December 5 in Martinique.
"The Caribbean Nations Cup will be an opportunity to bring some joy to the Haitian people who were terribly affected by the catastrophe that hit Haiti last January," President of the FHF Dr. Yves Jean-Bart said.
Haiti last won the Cup in 2007 with a 2-1 result against Trinidad and Tobago.
