Dazzle In, Groove Out
Published on March 18, 2003 under NBA G League (G League) News Release
Roanoke's 91-83 victory at Fayetteville Monday night assured two things as the National Basketball Development League regular season winds toward a conclusion. With the win, the Dazzle not only clinched its first NBDL Playoffs berth, but also eliminated the defending champion Greenville Groove from the playoff race.
Roanoke is 25-23 with games against Asheville and Mobile, both at home, still to play. Even if Greenville wins out, the Groove could manage just 24 total victories and could not catch the Dazzle in the standings. Roanoke is the only team among the leaders that Greenville would win a tiebreaker over. The Groove could possibly equal Mobile or North Charleston in victories should they sweep the rest of the season and those two teams lose out, but both the Revelers and the Lowgators would win a tiebreaker with Greenville.
One Game Season
The season has come down to one game for the Huntsville Flight and the North Charleston Lowgators. If Huntsville loses at Mobile tonight, the Flight would be eliminated from playoff contention. Even after losing at home to Columbus Monday night, the Lowgators can clinch with a win over Greenville Wednesday at the North Charleston Coliseum.
One Not Enough
Even though a Mobile victory tonight would eliminate Huntsville, it would not however, clinch a playoff spot for the Revelers. Mobile would not win a tiebreaker with Asheville, should both the Altitude and Revelers finish at 25-25.
