Daytona Beach Hawgs training camp report

March 4, 2005 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Daytona Beach Hawgs News Release

BOTTOM LINE: The Daytona Beach Hawgs practiced in helmets and shoulder pads Friday in their first extended physical workout of the season at Municipal Stadium. The Hawgs will practice in full gear Saturday morning at Derbyshire Field.

THE HIGHLIGHT: Former Mainland star Isaac Hall's play at quarterback was the storyline of the day, according to Head Coach Ervin Bryson. "Ike showed a lot of leadership and maturity today,'' Bryson said.

THE QB SITUATION: All three quarterbacks -- Hall, Ty Lohman and Neal Sharma turned in good performances according to Bryson, but the day belonged to Hall. "Everybody looked good.'' Bryson said of his quarterbacks.

THE LOCALS: Former Bethune-Cookman standout Brad Lee pounded his way for numerous five- and six-yard gains.

"Brad looked like a men among boys'' Bryson said.

OTHER NOTES: The Hawgs' practices will shift to Derbyshire Field due to motorcycle races at Municipal Stadium ... Saturday's workout will include an intersquad scrimmage and the public is invited .. Despite having never played a game, the Hawgs have impressed one web site devoted to indoor football: Indoorfootballfan.com ranked the Hawgs fourth in the 21-team National Indoor Football League and ninth among 45 franchises in the NIFL, the United Indoor Football Association, the American Professional Football League and the new Atlantic Indoor Football League; the only downside to the high ranking is that division foe Miami garnered the number two spot.
