Dayton Offensive Explosion Proves to be To Much for Danville

November 11, 2012 - Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL)
Dayton Demonz News Release

(Dayton, Ohio) This afternoon the Dashers hoped to avenge last night's loss to the Demonz. On Saturday the Dashers were outclassed by a score of 11-3. This was Dayton's fourth game in as many days (the last time these guys probably played this many games in a short period of time was youth hockey). Dayton native Lee McClure is playing today for the Dashers. The Dashers starting goalie today is Kira Hurley, one of the few women to play men's professional hockey in North America.

The penalty free first period was a see-saw battle between both teams with both teams creating odd man rushes, quality scoring opportunities and with the Demonz squandering 1 goal leads twice. However, the Demonz would take the lead 3-2 into the first intermission on a goal by Brayden Metz with 8 seconds left in the period.

However, the 2nd period Dayton blew the game wide open by scoring 6 goals to Danville's 2 goals to take a 9 to 4 lead after 2 periods of hockey.

Dayton scored its 7th gave Ahmed Mahfouz a hat trick (he would finish the game scoring 5 goals, along with being named star of the game).

One of the prettier plays of the game was off the rush, on a nice tick-take-toe pass. Mike Hoban finished the play after receiving a pass from Lucas Schott and Luke Flicek at 17:01 and Dayton doubled its lead 8 to 4.

Dayton would continue to dominate Danville on the scoreboard in the 3rd period, outscoring them 4 to 1. The final result was a 13 - 5 Dayton victory. Danville outshot Dayton 43 to 34, which did not translate on the scoreboard. Dayton hosts Cape Cod this Friday night at 7:35 at Hara Arena. Please contact (937) 723-8461 for tickets.
