Dayton Jets to make move to high school venues

January 11, 2006 - International Basketball League (IBL)
Dayton Jets News Release

"The Dayton Jets are one of the better teams in the nation for promotions and arguably one of the top four or five in the nation in terms of talent, but when a team is not in the right size venue, they historically run into trouble" says IBL Commissioner Mikal Duilio. After a lot of prodding and pushing from IBL Commissioner Mikal Duilio to put the team in high school and college gyms, Dayton Jets owner Mark McGuire has announced a change.

The first two games for the Dayton Jets upcoming 2006 season will be played at: Trotwood-Madison High School located at 4440 N. Union Road Trotwood, Ohio 45426

The Dayton Jets have received a few requests to come out to other various high schools (whereby the school or its boosters gets a cut of the tickets). The other eight home game venues will be announced by February 15th.

IBL Commissioner Mikal Duilio-"Everything is lined up for the Dayton Jets; they are in the right sized venue, they have an efficient/affordable schedule (see next page), they open up with the IBL Champion Battle Creek Knights and the very next night they play again at home against the Western Conference Champion Tacoma Thunder AND they have 9 different home opponents (see next page; this is to make up for last year)."

Two features distinguish the IBL from other professional basketball leagues:

1) Extremely low travel costs. The IBL promises a maximum of one trip requiring air travel.

2) An entertaining game. By allowing only one timeout per quarter and reducing the time between plays with an immediate inbounds, IBL games were fast and entertaining. In 2005 the IBL team scoring average was 127 points per game (and this game occurred in 2 hours).
