St. Charles Chill News Release
St. Charles, Mo. - The Chill took a 3-1 lead late in the second period but Rapid City's Winston Day Chief closed the score to3-2 in the final minute of the second and added two goals in the final three minutes of the third period to complete the natural hat trick and comeback win for the Rush by a final of 4-3.
St. Charles (7-20-4) one of their best periods in the opening frame, outshooting Rapid City (22-5-0) 12-7 but found themselves on the short end of a 1-0 score when Kyle Stroh scored his seventh at the 14:57 mark for a 1-0 Rush lead.
The Chill kept it rolling in the second. Kyle O'Kane scored the first of two consecutive goals seven minutes into the period to tie the game at 1-1 before denting the net a second time, his 13th of the year, on a beautiful one-time from the high slot after Jordan Fox set him up from the corner. St. Charles outplayed the Rush, steering aside shots and getting timely saves from Robby Moss before adding to their lead with under three minutes left in the second. Andrew Conboy punched in a power play goal, his third of the season, on the assist from O'Kane and Nicklas Lindberg and the Chill led 3-1.
Day Chief cut into that lead less than a minute later.
The Chill clogged up the blue line in the third period, forcing shots from the perimeter, but a penalty late in the period set up a power play goal from Day Chief at the 17:12 mark of the final frame before he sped down the left slot and fired a backhander past Chill goalie Robby Moss for the game-winner with 58 seconds left.
The Chill is back on the ice Friday night in Moline, Ill against the Quad City Mallards before returning to The Family Arena for games Saturday and Sunday. Call the Chill office at 636.724.SHOT to take advantage of Pepsi Family 4-Packs for just $60 that include four platinum level tickets, four hotdogs, four cans of Pepsi (or diet), and four bags of chips.
