San Francisco Dragons News Release

Burlingame (CA) - The San Francisco Dragons of Major League Lacrosse announced today the club has acquired attackman David Mitchell (Cornell) and the 39th selection in the 2008 MLL Collegiate Draft from the Boston Cannons in exchange for Matt Alrich and Colin Hulme.

Mitchell, a 2007 graduate of Cornell University, was a 1st round selection (8th overall) in the 2007 MLL Collegiate Draft by the Cannons. He played in 7 games in 2007, scoring 11 goals and adding 1 assist while scooping up 10 groundballs. At Cornell University, he was a 1st Team All American selection and Tewaaraton Trophy nominee after scoring 47 goals and 9 assists for 56 points leading Cornell to the National Championship game. As a junior he scored 43 goals and 9 assists for 52 points. He was a 1st Team All Ivy League selection after both his junior and senior seasons. Mitchell became the 32nd player in Cornell history to score 100 points in their career. In addition, he was selected 25th overall in the National Lacrosse League Entry Draft by the Philadelphia Wings.

"Dave (Mitchell) is an outstanding lacrosse player who we feel will be a great addition to our team this coming season. He is a natural goal scorer, who is virtually automatic around the goal," commented Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Locker. "We are very grateful for the contributions Matt (Alrich) has made to the Dragons over the past two seasons, and in the end wanted to honor his request to play in the east due to his work commitments. Colin (Hulme) had similar issues due to his coaching position at Holy Cross. We wish both of them all the best."
