Burlington Bees News Release

Burlington, IA (March 24, 2010) - April 8 is drawing nearer by the second, but Bees fans will not have to wait until Opening Day to get up close and personal with the team and Community Field.

The Bees announced a pair of exciting pre-season events today. The annual Open House and National Anthem Tryouts will take place on Saturday, April 3, with this year's Meet the Bees event happening on the eve of Opening Day, Wednesday, April 7.

National Anthem Tryouts give our musically-inclined friends a chance to showcase their pipes in hopes of singing the Star-Spangled Banner prior to one of the 70 Bees regular season contests this summer. Each participant will have the chance to sing the national anthem with a live microphone to simulate a game-day performance.

The Community Field Open House, coinciding with the tryouts, will allows fans to reacquaint themselves with the ballpark and even tour areas to which they may not otherwise be privy, such as the clubhouses, press box, and Lips To Go Hall of Fame Suite.

That following Wednesday, the 2010 edition of Meet the Bees will be held at the PZAZZ! Convention & Events Center. Players and staff will be in attendance, and a pizza buffet will be available for $10 for adults and $8 for children. It's an excellent chance for fans to familiarize themselves with the team as they embark on their quest to bring a third consecutive Western Division title to Burlington.

The Bees open the 2010 season on Thursday, April 8 at Community Field against the Quad Cities River Bandits, Midwest League affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. Tickets are moving quickly for this and all other Bees home dates. Reserve your opportunity to be a part of Bees baseball by visiting GoBees.com or by calling the front office at (319) 754-5705.
