Hudson Valley Renegades News Release

FISHKILL, NY (July 26, 2007) - The Hudson Valley Renegades won the rubber-match of a three game set against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers tonight by a score of 4-3.

The 'Gades ran into early trouble as the Scrappers put two first inning runs on the board off starter Jesse Darcy. Mark Thompson and Matt Brown each plated a run in the frame.

Darcy (3-3) would rebound nicely as he shutout the Scrappers throughout his next five innings of work. Overall, he scattered just two hits, walked only one and fanned five batters.

Mike McCormick began the Renegades' rally as his solo home run in the second inning cut the lead to 2-1. It was his second home run in as many nights and his fifth of the season. Henry Wrigley, Jimmy Mayer and Shawn O'Malley each followed with three straight base-knocks. Emeel Salem's sacrifice fly tied the game at two and a throwing error gave the Renegades a lead they would not relinquish.

The third inning began with Maiko Loyola ripping his league-leading fifth triple. Two batters later, Angel Fermin drove him in with a sacrifice fly to centerfield.

Scrappers' first baseman Dustin Realini singled home a run in the ninth, but 'Gades reliever Noah Booth held on for his third save of the season.

The Renegades (16-19) will welcome the Lowell Spinners to Dutchess Stadium tomorrow night. Alex Cobb (3-2) will make the start for Hudson Valley against Miguel Socolovich (1-1). First-pitch of the series opener is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
