Darcy Ashley suspended for 4 games
March 20, 2012 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) News Release
The disciplinary prefect of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Raymond Bolduc, suspended today Halifax Mooseheads' right winger, Darcy Ashley, for 3 additional games to the automatic suspension for a total of 4 games. The suspension was handed out following an incident that occurred on March 18 versus the PEI Rocket.
Here is the rationale that led to the decision:
* The opponent headed towards the player at fault and lifted his hands at chest height. * The player at fault: * Gave a violent double check to the throat of his opponent. * Was at his first offence. * The opponent was injured on the play.
The decision was rendered after reviewing the videotape of the incident, gathering the testimonies from the players and the organizations involved, reading the officials' report and consulting the independent committee in the matter of disciplinary sanctions.
The video of the event will be available shortly.
