Daniels Named af2 Ironman of the Week

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The af2 office announced today that Tennessee Valley Vipers wide receiver/linebacker, Ronney Daniels, has been named the league's Ironman of the Week for his Week 7 performance at Bossier City last Friday night.
Quad City offensive specialist Ira Gooch and Albany defensive specialist John Stuart have been named Offensive Player and ADT Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for Week 7.
The former Auburn receiver caught seven passes for 136 yards and three touchdowns (all career highs) on offense and recorded 1.5 tackles, one interception and one pass break up on defense. His three touchdown receptions came from 30, 40 and 29 yards. He made a circus catch on the 40-yard reception with 23 seconds left in the first half to bring the Vipers to within one point. They later recovered a fumble and kicked a field goal and went up 30-28 into halftime. His interception came midway through the fourth quarter at the Bossier City 14 yard line. The Vipers scored two plays later and went up by 21 points. He is currently second on the team in receptions with 19, first in yards with 322 and first in touchdowns with seven. He is also tied for the team lead with two interceptions.
"We all knew Ronney had the talent to play, he just had to learn the game," Vipers head coach Kevin Guy said. "He is adapting the game and becoming a big-time player for this football team."
The Lake, Wales, Florida native had stops in the NFL with the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins. He also spent time in camp this season with the Orlando Predators. He also played three seasons of minor league baseball in the Montreal Expos organization before returning to Auburn to play football.
The Vipers (5-0) host the Macon Knights (5-1) in a battle for first place in the Southern Division of the American Conference. The first 1,500 fans 14 and under will receive a full-size Vipers glow-in-the-dark football.
