Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks News Release

DANBURY, CT - The Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks are back in action this weekend as they trek to Lewiston, Maine to take on the Nordiques in their return to action in the NAHL Eastern Division.

The Hat Tricks are coming off their first win of the season in the last game of the NAHL Showcase in Blaine, MN. Danbury earned a victory against the New Mexico Ice Wolves thanks in large part to a big performance from goaltender Adam Johnson who was stellar, making 23 saves on the 24 shots he faced.

The Hat Tricks scored three unanswered goals in the victory, starting off with a breakaway goal from Ben Biester (1) in the second period. Danbury continued with two straight goals in the third including a game-winner from Wolfgang Govedaris (1) and an insurance goal from Adam Schuchart (1).

"The Blaine showcase was a tremendous opportunity for our group." Said Hat Tricks head coach Billy McCreary. "We learned a tough lesson night one against St. Cloud, but I was impressed with how we bounced back. We became better with each game, culminating in a big win against New Mexico to end the showcase."

The Hat Tricks finished their time in Minnesota with a 1-2-1 record and find themselves sitting in seventh place in the NAHL East, two spots behind Maine who go come into this weekend with a 3-3 record through their first six games.

"We need to continue moving forward against Maine. Maine is a team who represented our division at the Robertson Cup last season." McCreary continued. "If that's where we want to be we need to outwork them and find a way to come out of the weekend with at least three points."

Maine went 2-2 at the NAHL Showcase and then split a series with the Maryland Black Bears this past weekend. Maine is being paced by the play of Aidan Connolly and Reese Farrell who have six points apiece coming into the weekend's games.

The Hat Tricks will try to play spoiler this weekend, as the Nordiques open up their home schedule in Lewiston on Friday. You can catch all the games this weekend on HockeyTV, puck drop is at 7:00 PM on Friday and Saturday.
