June 6, 2008 - Eastern Professional Hockey League (EPHL)
Danbury Mad Hatters News Release

(DANBURY, CT) - The Danbury Mad Hatters would like to thank all contestants for participating in the "Name the Team" contest. An overwhelming 1,061 entries were submitted for Danbury's new professional hockey team.

The majority of entries suggested the name Mad Hatters, and then those suggestions were randomly chosen as the winners. The Danbury Mad Hatters team would like to congratulate all three winners; Deborah Osborn Silvernail of Pawling, NY, Olivia Micca of New Fairfield, CT, and David Rousseau of Bethel, CT. Debbie won two season tickets, while Olivia and David each won a replica jersey.

David was thrilled to win and for Danbury to regain a professional hockey team since it was entertainment for his family. He also responded, "We are so excited! It's hard to say you wish summer away, but we really can't wait to see our new Mad Hatters hockey team take the ice. You will always have our loyal support. Go Mad Hatters!"

The nickname is derived from Danbury's history in the hat manufacturing business.

Season ticket deposits are now being accepted at the Mad Hatters office inside Danbury Arena or at Danbury Arena's Guest Services counter! The Danbury Mad Hatters open their 50 game season on November 1 and will play 25 games at home.
