Damone Brown Returns to Charleston
January 16, 2004 - NBA G League (G League) News Release
GREENVILLE, S.C., January 15 â Damone Brown has been signed to a National Basketball Development League contract and is returning to the Charleston Lowgators, according to an announcement by NBDL director of basketball operations Chris Alpert and Lowgators coach Doug Marty.
Brown takes the roster spot vacated by Ime Udoka, who signed a 10-day contract with the Los Angeles Lakers Jan. 14.
A 6-foot-9, 200-pound forward from Syracuse (01), Brown had spent most of this season on the New Jersey Nets injured list before being released Dec. 22. He played in three games for the Nets, averaging 5.7 minutes, 1.0 points and 1.7 rebounds. A second round selection (37th overall) by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2001 NBA Draft, Brown has played 25 games over parts of three NBA seasons with the Nets, 76ers and Toronto, averaging 8.0 minutes, 2.2 points and 1.0 rebound.
He was an integral part of Charleston's NBDL playoff run last season, playing in 42 games and averaging 27.2 minutes, 12.5 points and 5.3 rebounds. He averaged 15.0 points and 3.5 rebounds in two playoff games.
Brown is expected to be in uniform when the Lowgators entertain Huntsville Wednesday at the North Charleston Coliseum. Tip off is 7 p.m. ET.
