Dallas' Will Pettis Named 2007 U.S. Army Strong Ironman Of The Year

NEW YORK - Dallas Desperados WR/DB WILL PETTIS (6-0, 200, Midwestern St.) was selected as the 2007 U.S. Army Strong Ironman of the Year as voted by AFL head coaches, fans, players and the Arena Football League Writers Association (AFLWA), the League announced today.

Pettis led the AFL with five Ironman of the Week selections (Weeks 4, 6, 14, 15, and 17) and two Ironman of the Month Awards (March, June). Offensively, Pettis led Dallas by posting 130 catches for 1,471 yards with 40 touchdowns. On defense, he notched 59.5 tackles, eight passes defensed, three interceptions, two tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

Pettis, who earned All-Ironman honors two weeks ago, also led the Desperados special teams unit with 58 kickoff returns for 1,229 yards and four touchdowns as Dallas became the first team in AFL history to record 15 regular-season victories.

Other candidates included: Chicago WR/LB DEJUAN ALFONZO, Orlando FB/LB MARLON MOYE-MOORE, Philadelphia FB/LB IDRIS PRICE, and Utah WR/DB RYAN DENNARD.
