March 8, 2005 - NBA G League (G League)
Columbus Riverdragons News Release

COLUMBUS, Ga., March 8 – Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s #8 Budweiser race car will be on display at the Columbus Civic Center on Friday, March 18 as the Columbus Riverdragons host "NASCAR Night" sponsored by Nextel, Knology, and Marathon. The Dragons host the Huntsville Flight in NBDL action at 7 p.m. and racing fans are invited to have their picture taken with Dale Jr.'s Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

In addition, all fans in attendance will have a chance to win tickets to the Golden Corral 500 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway on March 20. Fans will be given an opportunity to win two tickets to the Nextel Cup Series event by entering the game-night drawing in the south end zone of the Civic Center or by registering their name at the Riverdragons-NASCAR displays at select Marathon service stations prior to the game.

The event will also be highlighted by the Nextel Cup "Remote Control Car Challenge" with the winner receiving a free tank of gas from Marathon.

"NASCAR continues to dominate the sports scene here in Columbus and throughout the Southeast...so we thought we would bring NASCAR to our fans," said Riverdragons team president J. Barry McMullin. "We're proud to have the Dale Earnhardt Jr. race car at the Civic Center and have no doubt NASCAR fans will come to take their picture with the car and enjoy great Riverdragons basketball."

To purchase tickets for "NASCAR Night", visit the Columbus Civic Center box office, all Ticketmaster outlets, including Publix supermarkets, call Ticketmaster at 1-800-4-NBA-TIX, or log onto ticketmaster.com.

The Riverdragons look to bounce back from a 96-93 loss to Asheville on Sunday and regain a share of first place as they host the Florida Flame at the Columbus Civic Center in their next game this Thursday night, March 10 at 7 p.m. . Columbus (22-12) trails Roanoke (24-13) by one-half game for the top spot in the NBDL standings and a victory over Florida would catapult the Dragons into a virtual tie for first place with the Dazzle. Columbus leads the season series with the Flame 7-1 and earned a 87-73 victory over Florida in their last meeting on February 26 at the Civic Center.

Thursday's game will also be highlighted by "Apartment Night with the Riverdragons". Fans in attendance who are currently renting an apartment, condominium or house can enter the game-night drawing to win the grand prize of up to $500 for one month's rent at the Civic Center prior to and during the first half of the game. The runner-up will receive a 20-inch, flat screen television compliments of Knology, while the third prize winner will receive a $100 gift certificate to Publix Supermarkets.
