D-men lift the Jacks into the playoffs

Odessa, TX - The Odessa Jackalopes (27-28-4) got five of their seven goals Friday from defenseman and earned themselves a convincing 7-3 victory over the Amarillo Bulls (12-43-4) at Ector County Coliseum. The win gives Odessa its 68th point and a playoff berth for the first times since 2011-12.

Jake Levin (1) made it goals in back-to-back games at 17:15 of the 1st to give the Jacks the opening period advantage.

In the 2nd, both clubs woke up offensively combining for five goals. Pierce Pluemer (9) got it started for Odessa by poking home a Danny Kiraly shot that had snuck through Brian Baker at 3:45. At 12:07, Cooper Zech (7) jammed home the Jacks third goal by cleaning up a mad scramble in front to make it 3-0. Nick Santoro (8) countered and made it goals in three-straight while also getting his team on board at 12:07. Odessa pushed their lead back to three when Derek Brown's perfect backdoor pass found the stick of Gray Marr (16) on the power play at 12:37. Liam Ferguson (6) added a late tally at 19:03, ending the period with a score of 4-2.

In the final frame, the Jacks tacked on three more goals while the Bulls only mustered the one more tally. Kiraly (11, 12) struck twice and Zech (8) added his second of the game while Charlie Singerhouse got on the board for the Bulls (13). Dean Shatzer (13-15-1) was stellar again making 30 saves en route to his fourth straight win while Brian Baker (2-8-0) suffered the loss stopping 41 shots

The Jacks and Bulls wrap up the regular season Saturday night starting at 7:05 p.m. Saturday will feature Power Ranger' appearances (Yellow and Pink) and a Connor Hellebuyck giveaway night.
