TULSA DOUBLE: The Los Angeles Clippers signed guard Will Conroy and the Washington Wizards signed forward Mike Hall, both of the Tulsa 66ers, to 10-day contracts Wednesday, marking the first time in D-League history that two players from the same team were called up to NBA teams on the same day.
PASSING THE PACE CAR: Wednesday's call-up of the Tulsa duo increased the total number to 13 among 12 players by nine NBA teams for the 2006-07 season. On March 1 of last season, there had been seven callups over six players by six NBA teams.
THEY SAID IT: "Last time I was excited. This time, I was like, 'I'm on a mission to stick around.'" ... Tulsa guard Will Conroy told the Tacoma News Tribune about his GATORADE Call-Up to the Los Angeles Clippers, his second 10-day contract this season (first was with Memphis).
THEY SAID IT TOO: "I learned real quick that there was some competitive basketball down there, and I worked every day to get better. I wasn't focused on trying to get a call-up or anything, I was just focusing on what I could do to get better as a player." ... 66ers forward Mike Hall told the Washington Post about the D-League after signing a 10-day contract with the Washington Wizards.
