SERIES INFO
- Albuquerque at Roanoke: Dazzle leads 1-0. T-Birds have lost three
straight and five of last seven.
- Florida at Fayetteville: Flame leads 4-0. Flame averaging 9.5 more
trips to free throw line in four meetings.
- Arkansas at Tulsa: 66ers lead 1-0. Now playing with the Rockets, John
Lucas had 36 points for Tulsa in first meeting.
- Austin at Fort Worth: Flyers lead 2-0. Both the previous matchups
went into overtime.
WHO'S HOT? The Florida Flame has won five of its last six games, with four coming on the road.
WHO'S NOT? The Fayetteville Patriots have lost eight consecutive games and are seven games out of first place just 12 games into the season.
GRUNDY & BYNUM: Not a law firm, but indeed a scoring partnership over the last two games for Roanoke. The two guards have combined to make 34-of-56 field goal attempts (.768). Anthony Grundy is averaging 29.5 points in the Dazzle's first back-to-back victories of the season, while Will Bynum is chipping in 27.0.
RAY OF SUNSHINE: Erik Daniels hasn't seemed to let the fact that his Fayetteville team is mired in an eight-game losing skid affect his effort. Daniels poured in 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds on Friday, improving his season averages to 20.6 points and 9.4 rebounds, 19.5 and 8.0 against the Flame.
GOING HOME: Albuquerque's Bryant Matthews returned to his old stomping grounds and posted a double-double (14 pts, 10 reb) in the T-Birds loss at Roanoke on Friday. Matthews was a star at nearby Virginia Tech. The home folks get another chance to catch his act this afternoon in the rematch between the Dazzle and Albuquerque at the Roanoke Civic Center.
THREE ANOMALY: The headline tense doesn't match, but neither did Austin's weapon of choice in a win over Tulsa on Friday. A 29-percent (36-122) shooting team from the three-point line, the Toros converted 60-percent (9-15) from behind the arc in the win over the 66ers.
ANSWERING THE BELL: With point guard John Lucas earning a GATORADE Call-Up to the Houston Rockets on Thursday, Will Conroy stepped up to the plate in a big way for Tulsa on Friday, scoring 17 points and dishing out seven assists in 38 minutes. He converted 7-of-12 field goal attempts.
TODAY ON NBA TV: The "D-League Game of the Week", which features Arkansas at Austin from December 23, re-airs at noon ET.
