Amarillo, TX - The Venom have resigned five defensive players from last year's squad in Cashmin Thomas, DonTa Bright, Darrius Battles, Jared Williams and Kendrick Bournes.
"These players were a big part of our success last season and we are excited to have them back for the 2011 season," commented Joe Morgado general manager for the Amarillo Venom.
Thomas, DB 5'9 185lbs. from West Texas A&M, earned first team All IFL Defense in his rookie season. He also led the team with 8 interceptions and 1 interception for a touchdown.
Bright, DB 6'1 195lbs. from New Mexico Highlands University played in 11 games last season and recorded 6 interceptions.
Battles, DB 5'11 186lbs. from University of Louisiana-Monroe, returns from last season with 67 tackles and 4 Interceptions.
Williams, DE/LB 6'6 260lbs. a Texas Tech alum, will be back to help anchor the defensive line.
Bournes, LB 6'2 275lbs. University of Mississippi alum, will be in place to lead the linebackers to a successful season.
