Washington, D.C. (April 12, 2007) - D.C. United announced today it will host the second edition of the D.C. United Super Cup, a single elimination full side 11-v-11 invitational soccer tournament, presented by Anheuser-Busch. The tournament will feature 16 elite Hispanic adult teams from local leagues and be held over several weekends in April and May at the RFK Stadium Auxiliary Field. The tournament draw will take place on Monday, April 16th at Mi Peru Restaurant, 2715 University Blvd., in Wheaton, Maryland, at 7:00 p.m. All local media are welcome to attend.
"We are pleased to offer this competitive tournament to teams from our local Hispanic leagues," said United Vice President Stephen Zack. "The Hispanic community has long been one of our biggest supporters and we hope this tournament will provide for a fun and competitive atmosphere."
A registration fee of $300 per team includes 20 complementary Spectator-level tickets to a D.C. United regular season game and one match ball. Teams registering for the tournament are required to have previously played for two seasons in a local affiliated league. Additionally, a strict 20-player roster limit per game will be enforced. Rosters are due prior to the beginning of the team's game and players may not appear for more than one team in the tournament. A roster freeze will be in affect beginning with the Semifinals.
