D.C. United appearances December 11-15

Washington, D.C. (December 11, 2006) - D.C. United players will be making two appearances in the coming days. Bryan Namoff will be at the United Reads Reading Corner on Tuesday Dec. 12 to read with children at the Children's National Medical Center's Health Center on Martin Luther King, Jr. Ave. The other appearance will be by John Wilson at the Screaming Eagles Holiday Happy Hour, taking place at the Pour House on Wednesday Dec. 13. Full appearance information is as follows:

When: Tuesday, Dec. 12; 1:30-3 p.m.
Where: Children's Health Center - 3029 Martin Luther King, Jr, Ave, SE. | Washington, D.C. 20032
Purpose: Read with children Players: John Wilson
What: Screaming Eagles Holiday Happy Hour
When: Wednesday, Dec. 13; 7-8:30 p.m.
Where: Pour House - 319 Pennsylvania Ave, SE. | Washington, D.C.
Purpose: Mingle with fans who are collecting toys for holiday Christmas party

The United Reads Reading Corner was put together by D.C. United's United Reads program and Reach Out and Read DC. The goal of the program is to improve literacy and encourage reading, especially in underserved neighborhoods in the District. All Children's Health Centers now have Reading Corners. The program provides books and other materials to the centers to help parents teach their children the importance of reading in their development. Thus far, Two United Reads Reading Corners have been launched in Ward 8.
