Czarniecki Reassigned, Smith Joins Bees

SALT LAKE CITY (August 17, 2008) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that the club has reassigned outfielder Jordan Czarniecki to Double-A Arkansas and promoted infielder Corey Smith from Double-A Arkansas to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Czarniecki, 27, has appeared in 32 games for the Bees in 2008, hitting .252 with five doubles, two triples, three home runs and 10 RBI. He has appeared in 62 games for the Travelers this season, hitting .296 with 14 doubles, three triples, six home runs and 23 RBI. The Anderson, Ind. native was originally selected in the 25th round of the 2003 draft by the Colorado Rockies and signed with the Angels prior to the 2008 season.

Smith, 26, has appeared in 120 games for the Travelers this season, hitting .275 with 31 doubles, one triple, 23 home runs and 76 RBI. Originally selected in the first round of the 2000 draft by the Cleveland Indians, the Plainfield, N.J. native signed with the Angels on December 17, 2007.
