
CyberRays face Boston Breakers in Las Vegas College Showcase

SAN JOSE (Feb. 19, 2003) â The San Jose CyberRays will play the Boston Breakers on Saturday, March 22, in a WUSA exhibition match at Las Vegas, Nev.
The 7:30 p.m. match at Peter Johann Memorial Field on the campus of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas is the feature event of the Las Vegas College Showcase, a two-day tournament in which elite girls teams from across the nation will compete before friends, family and top college coaches. The annual soccer weekend is staged by the UNLV Women's Sports Foundation to benefit female student-athletes and women's sports programs at the school.
The event also will include a 10: 30 a.m. clinic Saturday for girls 5 to 14 years old conducted by CyberRays and Breakers players sponsored by the Silver State Girls Soccer League.
``This will be an exciting and beneficial weekend for young soccer players nationwide, and the CyberRays are eager to participate in preparation for the 2003 WUSA season,'' said general manager Marlene Bjornsrud.
The CyberRays defeated the San Diego Spirit 4-1 last March in the inaugural Las Vegas College Showcase.
General admission tickets to the CyberRays-Boston Breakers match are $15 each and are available online at www.unlvtickets.com. Clinic participants may register at www.lvcollegeshowcase.com/clinic.htm. The fee is $30 per player, which includes a T-shirt and admission to the WUSA exhibition.
The CyberRays open preseason training March 1 and open their 2003 season at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 5 against the Philadelphia Charge in Spartan Stadium.
