Cuyahoga Falls announces kick off of first professional basketball team

Cuyahoga Falls, OH - The city of Cuyahoga Falls hits a slam dunk with the announcement of its first professional minor league basketball team. The Cuyahoga Falls Cougars invite the media to join us for the official team presentation and signing of first player, Shane Conwell of Copley, Ohio.

Where: Natatorium Health and Fitness Center (Hopewell Room)

2310 2nd Street, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio

Shane Conwell, a 6'6, 200-pound Health Education major at Malone College, averaged 23.2 points per game for a total of 734 season points and 1,558 career points. He also averaged 4.8 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game.

Conwell's college career awards include the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics All-American and the National Christian College Athletic Association All-American. He was also selected to the American Mid-East Conference First Team and the American Mid-East Conference South First Team and named NCCAA National Player of the Week.

In addition to the team presentation and signing of first player, Tony Alvarez, Operations Manager of the International Basketball League (IBL) will be on hand as well as Cuyahoga Falls Mayor Don L. Robart, Marc Cook, Cougars owner, and Ryan Isley, Cougars General Manager to answer media questions. Refreshments will be served.
