Curse of Express Strikes Again

The Boston Red Sox had their curse, The Chicago Cubs still have their curse, and the Curse of the Southern Minnesota Express hit the Outlaws as a good game was broken open late in the third period to put an end to the Outlaws seven game winning streak. The bright spot of the night was Bryant Skarda who knocked home three goals for North Iowa.
In the minutes of the first period things looked good for the Outlaws as Southern Minnesota had no offense as the Outlaws headed on their first power play of the night. With the man advantage, Shea Walters found Bryant Skarda on the far side of the ice who knocked home his 7th power play goal on the year for the 1-0 lead. Under a minute later the Express took another penalty, and they struck shorthanded to tie the game, only see the Outlaws Skarda strike for a second time on the man advantage for his league leading 8th power play goal. With a 2-1 lead, Southern Minnesota finally got a little offensive burst with just over a minute to play and Ben Beaudion slipped a puck though the pads of Moss to end the period tied at 2.
In the second, Skarda picked up the hat trick but again the Express answered back to tie the game late on a nice shot from the point that snuck by Moss. In the third, the curse of the Express hit as North Iowa seemed to fall apart, as Moss gave up two goals which chased him from the game and Austin Maginnis came on in relief. Quickly he Express took advantage of a cold goaltender, knocking in two to take a 7-3 lead. Mobley answered late, but time ran out as North Iowa seven game winning streak came to and end at the hands of the Express.
North Iowa and the Express battle again Saturday and Sunday at the North Iowa Ice Arena. Saturday night is the annual "Toys for Tots" Teddy Bear Toss, bring an unwrapped toy or Teddy Bear and receive a $1 off your admission. Teddy Bears will be thrown on the ice after the Outlaws score their first goal of the game. On Sunday, Fans will receive Posters and a post game autograph session will take place after the game.
