
Curbelo's Career Night Lifts Barons to 10-5 Win

The Barons demolished the Lookouts 10-5 on Thursday night.
Chattanooga opened the scoring with two runs in the second inning. Quincy McAfee scored on a Mike Siani fielder's choice. Then Ivan Johnson was plated on a wild pitch that got away from Jason Bilous. Bilous gave up another run in the third inning when Allan Cerda doubled on a sharp line drive to left field.
But Birmingham slapped five runs on the scoreboard in the fourth inning. Raudy Read and Craig Dedelow scored on an Ian Dawkins single. From there, Luis Curbelo doubled to bring in Dawkins and Moises Castillo. Curbelo then scored on a D.J. Burt single.
With no runs on either side in the fifth inning, the Barons put up two more in the sixth. Evan Skoug singled in Dawkins. Skoug advanced to second on the throw, and then scored when Luis Curbelo singled one batter later.
In the seventh inning, Yoelqui Cespedes hit an RBI single. Quincy McAfee grounded into a fielder's choice to score Cerda for the Lookouts in the bottom of the seventh. That ended the eight run scoring spurt.
The Barons scooped up insurance runs in the eighth inning when Craig Dedelow poked an RBI single and Moises Castillo ripped an RBI double to make it 10-4. AlexMcGarry then hit a solo homer, his sixth long ball of the year, in the bottom of the eighth to make it 10-5.
Tomorrow's starter is unannounced for Birmingham. Chattanooga is going with Connor Phillips (4-3, 2.95).
